Perspective

Agility
30.03.20

The last fortnight has been a whirlwind, and calls for a temporary shift in tone for these musings we call Perspective. Having spoken with numerous clients, colleagues, peers and partners, both near and far, it’s clear we’re all facing similar professional challenges. Adapting to the ‘new normal’ – whatever that is – as well as the practicalities of #WFH has been easier for some than others. We’ve been busy conducting virtual strategy sessions with clients looking to “pivot” responsibly, sensitively and proactively in incredibly challenging circumstances. Something that’s become somewhat of a mantra at NHVO (that’s Neil Hugh ‘Virtual’ Office) is how, as businesses and brands, we can “provide certainty in uncertain times”. It’s only natural that many of us feel out of control. The world is a scary place right now, however for business and for employers, the show must go on. Obvious and serious health issues aside, our clients – often small to medium business owners – are grappling with how to adapt, to continue servicing clients, and importantly to keep their teams employed. The world and our individual worlds are in flux. So while much is out of our control – how can you provide certainty in uncertain times? Accepting what we can’t control, and focusing on what we can is freeing and clarifying. Embrace the power to take decisive action wherever you can. Your clients will appreciate it, and so will your employees. And the best news – apart from discovering the “touch up my appearance” feature on Zoom – is that despite this immediate trauma, we’re already feeling a quiet sense of optimism for what’s the come on the other side, as long as we all #stayhome for now.
