On Saturday, NHO welcomed friends, family and a litter of very good dogs for an afternoon of live canine caricatures with our friend, artist Ben Mazey. Across the afternoon, Ben drew 30 portraits in his unmistakable style, giving visitors the rare chance to watch his beloved illustrations take shape in person – and for portrait commissions, to take home an original work of their own four-legged companion.
Beyond the portraits, the afternoon was a wonderful excuse to bring people together, with plenty of conversation, connection, wagging tails and a little canine chaos. Together, we raised $3,000 for The Lost Dogs’ Home, with all proceeds going towards helping lost and abandoned dogs find safety, care and new homes – a cause close to our hearts.
A big thank you to everyone who commissioned a portrait, came along to watch Ben work, brought their furry friends and helped make the afternoon such a success. And a special thank you to Ben for bringing the portraits to life, our long-term collaborators Studio Hi Ho for the branding and graphic design, and our neighbours at Hector’s Deli for keeping everyone refreshed.
