Fernando Mastrangelo is a Brooklyn-based artist best known for collectible design, large scale sculptures and experiential installations sculpted by hand from natural or repurposed materials. Fernando established his sculpture studio nearly 15 years ago, however his entrée to design has only been in the last six years. Landscape and issues related to climate change are a consistent theme of his work, drawing on materials such as sand, salt, silica, and crushed or powdered glass to artfully and articulately express himself. Touring the studio and workshop on a recent visit to New York, Fernando’s co-curated exhibition with Rossana Orlandi was just being dismantled, however he will be exhibiting in Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Switzerland in the next 6 months, so keep an eye out. No doubt he has something exciting planned for Milan Design Week too. We encourage you to visit Fernando’s website and follow him on Instagram to learn more. Photography courtesy of Surface Mag.
