National Gallery of Victoria’s inaugural Triennial exhibition in 2017 left a lingering impression, building a sense of anticipation – and the 2020 edition does not disappoint. True to NGV’s objectives, the exhibition brings contemporary art, design and architecture into dialogue. New commissions and initiatives comment on the changing landscape of digital and emerging technologies, offering speculative insights into our collective futures. While Triennial 2020 celebrates some of the world’s most accomplished artists and designers, it is heartening to hear the voices of emerging practitioners included in the conversation. With works from over 100 cross-disciplinary artists and designers, Triennial 2020 intersects with NGV’s historic collections to reframe the gallery experience; a new cultural paradigm not to be missed.
